Expertise in Disaster Assistance Sought For Latin America
ICMA is looking for city managers and their staff who have experience in the area of disaster assistance and preparedness to provide assistance to strengthen and build the capacity of national and regional organizations in Central America and the Caribbean. Individuals should have experience in the following areas:

By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
    Assessments of disaster preparedness (plans & policies), health care infrastructure, mitigation and vulnerability reduction, emergency communications and infrastructure
    Compliance inspections
    Design, development and provision of training in disaster response/relief, stress management, emergency logistics, warehouse management, search and rescue training, civil defense and information management
    Logistics coordination and management (supply operations, field services, transportation, communications, disease surveillance, etc.)
Activities will start after April 2007. Assessments may be during a disaster recovery event, or for task orders and short-term assignments in specific countries of a few weeks to several months or more.

In addition to the areas of expertise named above, ICMA is looking for individuals who have English and/or Spanish and/or French language capabilities.
