Grant Writing Tips and Skills for Municipal Employees
"This session is designed to give all levels of municipal employees a detailed overview of how to research and write winning grant applications (state and federal). The tips and skills presented are also applicable to federal cooperative agreement applications. Topics covered will include how to strengthen your Legislative connections to assist you with the grant seeking and post-submission processes, how to craft a winning narrative, how to prepare the budget summary and narrative detail, how to push your application to the top of the peer review stack and follow-up recommendations.

By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
    Understand how to track private and public sector grant funding opportunities. Understand how to strengthen your communications with Legislative members representing your municipality when it comes to government grant-related communications.
    Understand what constitutes a highly scored grant application narrative in both the private and public sectors.
    Understand how to compile, format and write critical narrative sections that can be used in any type of funding request, from letters to full grant applications.
    Understand what counts as direct and indirect costs and in-kind contributions.
    Understand the follow-up work needed to assure your grant application has the best possible chance of being funded.
