ACMA to Offer Two Scholarships to Harvard Program
Arizona City/County Management Association in partnership with Arizona Public
Service Company and Greenberg Traurig, Hutchinson, Shockey, Erley & Co; and PinnacleOne will
offer two full scholarships this year to ACMA members for the Senior Executives in State and
Local Government Program at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.

ACMA Adopts Bylaws Amendment
During the November 16, 2007 Executive Board Meeting, the Board of
Directors voted to bring a bylaws amendment to change the name of Active Member to Full
Member, add an additional Associate Member seat to the Board, eliminate the Associates
Committee and make the Associates Committee Chair Board seat a permanent Associates seat,
and make several changes to Retired and Life Membership eligibility.

ACMA Honors Jim Thompson with 2008 DeBolske Award
In an evening full of surprise, excitement and emotion, ACMA honored Jim
Thompson, City Manager, Casa Grande, as the recipient of the John J. DeBolske Professional
Excellence Award for his dedicated service to the City of Casa Grande, the profession, and our
association.

ACMA Recognizes Newest Life Members
ACMA is proud to recognize new Life Members Fred Carpenter and Stephen
Cleveland. Carpenter is the former City Manager of Payson and has also worked for Guadalupe,
Prescott Valley, Buckeye and Wickenburg. Cleveland is the former City Manager of Goodyear.

ACMA Honors Mary Jacobs with 2008 Connolly Award
Mary Jacobs was presented with the Catherine F. Connolly Award at the Winter
Recognition Banquet for excellence at the Assistant Manager level. Mary is the Assistant City
Manager from the City of Sierra Vista, a position she has held since 2000.

ACMA Honors Andrea Costello with First Associate's Award for Excellence in Leadership
ACMA presented the new Associate's Award for Excellence in Leadership Award
at the Winter Conference this year. This award is specifically designed to recognize associate
members who contribute to the profession through their organization at an associate member
rather than the CEO level. The first recipient of this new award was Andrea Costello, Assistant
to the City Manager, City of Sedona.

ACMA Honors Esser and Andrews Scholarship Recipients
During the Conference in Sedona, ACMA honored Rebecca Kunsberg as the 2008
Esser Scholar. Rebecca is a Management Intern in for the Town of Marana and is currently
attending Graduate School at University of Arizona for her Masters in Public Administration and
Policy. The Esser Scholarship is a $2,000 award given to a student who is already working full
time for a local government.

2008 ACMA Winter Conference
Over 180 members from across the state converged on Sedona, Arizona to share
information and hear from speakers on a wide array of topics.
The conference commenced with an Executive Leadership Seminar entitled "Precision Communication:
Applying the Essential Ingredient for Successful Teams," presented by Chris Hunsicker. In this
half-day long session, Chris instructed participants on techniques on getting more done in less
time with more fun.

Four Arizona Cities/Towns to present case studies at Transforming Local Government Conference in June
The municipalities of Chino Valley, Gilbert, Phoenix and Yuma have been
selected by the Alliance for Innovation to serve as case study presenters for the 2008
Transforming Local Government (TLG) conference in Greenville, S.C., taking place June 3-6 2008.
The theme of this year's conference is Creating Sustainable Futures: Global Issues/Local
Solutions.
