ACMA presented the new Associate's Award for Excellence in Leadership Award at the Winter Conference this year. This award is specifically designed to
recognize associate members who contribute to the profession through their organization at an associate member rather than the CEO level. The first recipient
of this new award was Andrea Costello, Assistant to the City Manager, City of Sedona.
Andrea has held the position as Assistant to the City Manager since 2004 and in that time has taken on several challenges. Andrea volunteered to serve as
the Acting Director of both the Wastewater and Parks and Recreation Departments in order to help the departments overcome many challenges. By assisting the
City in overcoming challenges, Andrea has proved to be very valuable to the City. Andrea also serves on the City's communication team, and helps play an
important role in publicizing information on many City projects and events to all residents and businesses.
Sedona City Manager, Eric Levitt, describes Andrea as "one of the hardest working and most ethical employees I have ever worked with and is extremely
loyal to the organization."
Andrea is also very active in ACMA. She is in the second year of her term on the Board as the Associates' Committee Chair. She also served as the
conference planning chair for the Winter 2008 conference.
