2008 ACMA Summer Conference
The Summer Conference Planning Committee chaired by James Jayne, County Manager, Navajo County, met for the first time in April to begin planning the conference. This year's conference offers a wide range of topics and sessions to choose from.

The conference will begin on Wednesday, July 23 at 7:00 AM with the ACMA Golf Tournament. Lunch will be offered to all registrants at the Flying V restaurant from 12 noon-1:30pm.

Wednesday afternoon ICMA will be presenting the "Good to Great" training. This program builds on concepts from a conversation between Jim Collins, author of Good to Great and the Social Sectors: a Monograph to Accompany Good to Great, and Bob O'Neill, Executive Director, ICMA, captured on DVD, after the ICMA Annual Conference. It also and includes comments and examples from local government managers who are working to apply the Good to Great concepts in their localities.

On Thursday morning, keynote speaker Phil Van Hooser, nationally known motivational speaker, will kick of the conference. Through his masterful storytelling, Phil's audiences experience tried and true leadership and customer service lessons drawn from the real work world -- ideas that can be quickly transferred to current circumstances to create immediate improvements. The 2008 ACMA Summer Conference will be held from July 23-25 at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson. Reservations may be made by calling (800) 234-5117. The group rate is $99.50/night and is available through June 23, 2008. The conference registration fee for members will be $340. In early June registration materials for the conference were emailed to members and posted on the ACMA website.
