ACMA Honors Dr. Robert Denhardt with Associate's Award for Excellence in Leadership
ACMA presented this year's Associate's Award for Excellence in Leadership to Dr. Denhardt, Director of the ASU School of Public Affairs and the ASU Lincoln Professor of Leadership and Ethics. This award is specifically designed to recognize associate members who contribute to the profession through their organization at an associate member rather than the CEO level.

Dr. Denhardt has dedicated his life and career to teaching, researching, and writing about leadership in public service. He is an internationally known speaker on the subject and is a past national president of the American Society for Public Administration.

Locally, Bob was the driving force for the establishment of two key programs in the Valley: the Marvin Andrews Graduate Program in Urban Management at ASU, and the Alliance for Innovation, headquartered at ASU's downtown campus. The three-year-old Marvin Andrews Program attracts the country's most talented students aspiring to executive levels in local government. At the program's core is a strong partnership with ACMA that offers funding, internships and mentoring to students. The ACMA partnership and Bob's work as Director have in large part contributed to the program's impressive ranking - it's the number six urban management program in the country, according to U.S. News and World Report.

Additionally, under Dr. Denhardt's leadership, the School of Public Affairs bested more than 200 schools to bring the Alliance for Innovation's new headquarters to Phoenix. He currently sits on its Board of Directors, assisting with the Alliance's mission to provide local governments with cutting edge research, networking opportunities and customized educational opportunities.
