ACMA Honors Tami Ryall with 2009 Connolly Award
This year's Catherine F. Connolly award was presented to Tami Ryall, Assistant Town Manager for Gilbert. The Catherine F. Connolly Outstanding City/County Manager Award, recognizes an outstanding assistant city or county manager who has demonstrated exemplary service to their organization, to the community, to local government and to ACMA. The namesake of the award, Catherine F. Connolly, was the Executive Director of the League of Arizona Cities and Towns for seven years and served 20+ years as the Deputy Director.

Tami has been a dedicated servant of the Town of Gilbert for several years, leading to her current position as Assistant Town Manager. She is credited with developing Gilbert's first street, transit, bicycle and pedestrian plans, and has increased public engagement in local decisions. For example, when a park was planned for the base of the Town's historic water tower, Tami contracted with ASU's Decision Theater to create an imaginative 3-D model that allowed a divergent group of stakeholders to come to a consensus - a feat unsuccessfully attempted four previous times by master planners.

Outside her work at the Town of Gilbert, Tami is involved in multiple organizations, including the State Parks Board Historic Preservation Advisory Committee, MAG's Bicycle and Pedestrian Working Group Committees, and Valley Leadership, among others. As an active ACMA and ICMA member, Tami has also served on conference planning committees.

Moreover, she has put an emphasis on professional development and education. In 2007, she was selected for ACMA's scholarship to attend Harvard University's Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program.
