ACMA Honors Andy Bertelsen with Associate's Award for Excellence in Leadership
ACMA presented this year's Associate's Award for Excellence in Leadership to Andy Bertelsen, Public Works Director for Coconino County. This award is specifically designed to recognize associate members who contribute to the profession through their organization at an associate member rather than the CEO level.

Andy began his local government career with Coconino County in 1999 as an intern and was quickly promoted to legislative liaison before departing for an assistant planner position with the City of Sedona. He served Sedona for four years, including stints as a management assistant and Assistant to the City manager, before returning to Coconino County as its Planning and Budget Manager. He assumed his current role as Public Works Director in 2008 and has been tireless in his efforts to provide top-notch public services to a diverse county that is the second-largest in the nation in terms of geographic area. This past summer Andy was on the front lines as disaster struck, literally wading through flooded areas to reach neighborhoods in the dire need of assistance. He has helped to rebuild damaged areas and restore people's lives to a sense of normalcy after tragedy occurred.

Andy has also been an active member of ACMA, serving on multiple conference planning committees before becoming conference planning chair for the summer 2010 event. Andy's dedication and service to the citizens of Coconino County is a shining example of excellence in public service.
