Message from the President
Gilbert Davidson Town Manager, Town of Marana

I am honored to be serving ACMA as president this year and look forward to an exciting year with many opportunities for involvement. I encourage all members to take advantage of every opportunity ACMA makes available to gain valuable insight from peers who understand what makes our work so unique.

ACMA has been served well this past year through the efforts and leadership of Jimmy Jayne, Navajo County Manager. Jimmy committed many hours and much dedication serving as president of the association. He did an outstanding job and is to be commended for his service. In addition, he was awarded ACMA's highest honor, the John J. Debolske Award at the Winter Conference for his outstanding contributions to our profession. We are in a better position because the work Jimmy performed this past year.

Our Association depends on each of us to be contributors in terms of our time and talents. In order for ACMA to continue to be one of the best state associations, we need to ensure full engagement by each member.

There are many ways to get involved with the association. These are just a few areas that need our support.
  • Serving on the 2011 summer and 2012 winter planning committees
    • Summer conference committee chair - Nicole Dailey, Assistant to the City Manager, City of Maricopa, (520) 568-9098
    • Conference dates: July 27-29, 2011

  • Helping to organize and prepare for the ICMA Conference next year in Phoenix
    • Susan Thorpe, Deputy City Manager, City of Peoria, (623) 773-7300
    • Conference dates: October 7-10, 2012

  • Raising awareness and funds for Harvard's Senior Executives in Local and State Government program
    • Mary Vinzant, League of Arizona Cities and Towns, (602) 258-5876

  • Supporting ICMA's "Life, Well Run" campaign

  • Contributing ideas and information to ACMA that can be shared with members across the state
You will find the hours you volunteer to be some of the most rewarding you spend in your career. You get out of the experience what you put into it. If you are interested in serving ACMA in any way, please contact Mary Vinzant at the League of Arizona Cities and Towns at (602) 258-5786, or you may also contact me by calling (520) 382-1900.

Thank you for being an ACMA member. I look forward to working with all of you as we advance our organization and improve the lives of the people who live and do business in our communities.
