My thanks to the ACMA Board for their continuing support of the Andrews Fellowship at ASU and our partnership commitment to
providing the next generation of exceptional public managers. The commitment at the Sedona Board meeting was the leadership
needed to support the selection of three new Andrews Fellows starting in the fall 2013.
The three new fellows are Dominic Papa (ASU 2012 Political Science and Italian), Jacob Meshke
(ASU 2013 Urban and Metropolitan Studies), and Matthew Behunin (Brigham Young University 2013 Communication
Studies). I will be looking for mentors from ACMA membership in the coming weeks, so if you have an interest, please let me
The three continuing fellows have all been assigned second year field internships. I truly appreciate the increased financial
commitment required from the city of Phoenix, who will host Alex Rivera; the city of Casa Grande, who will host
Alexis Ramirez; and the town of Gilbert, who will host Justine Bruno.
We are also graduating three Fellows on May 9, 2013. Pam Weir has accepted a management assistant position with
the city of Fort Collins, Colorado. Niel Curley will be working with the city of Mesa in the Manager's Office as
a management assistant. Emma Jurado is completing her internship in Gilbert and looking for her next opportunity
for public service.
The fellowship needs your personal financial support. In addition to the Association, we have received support from Helios
Foundation, Salt River Project and 22 individual donations. Total fund raising to date is $17,905. You can add your support to
the program online at www.asufoundation.org/andrews anytime.
It continues to be my pleasure to be a member of the association and implement our vision for professional public management
serving our communities now and in the future.
