Alliance for Innovation
This Digital Document presents some of the best current examples of local governments exhibiting transparency to the public through the use of
dashboards. This is a great example of how local governments are increasingly using "open-gov" concepts to be more accountable to the people
they serve. Technological advances such as decreased storage costs and greater broadband accessibility has been able to make this a reality.
When we think of government transparency, we most often think about finances. While that certainly remains important, some local governments are
going beyond the numbers of revenue and spending to report on other public concerns such as environmental issues, Fire/EMS/Police, community culture
and human services. The 13 governments featured in this document have taken steps to be leaders in this trend.
