ACMA Nominating Committee Report
By Kari Kent, ACMA President

It has been my pleasure to serve as the chair of the 2015 Nominating Committee. Other members of the nominating committee include Robert Flatley, immediate past president; Josh Wright, president-elect; and Brent Stockwell, associate director. The committee has nominated the following ACMA members for election to the ACMA Board of Directors:

President-Elect Shane Dille, City Manager, Nogales

Director (two-year term) Yvonne Kimball, Town Manager, Dewey-Humboldt

Director (two-year term) Robert Pickels, County Administrator, Yuma County

Director (two-year term) Jerene Watson, Deputy City Manager, Flagstaff

Director, Associate
(two-year term)
Nicole Lance, Assistant to the Town Manager, Gilbert

The members of the board of directors who are scheduled to remain on the board in 2015 are: Josh Wright, (incoming) president, Wickenburg; Kari Kent, immediate past president, Mesa; Shane Dille, president-elect, Nogales; Brian Dalke, director, Goodyear; Mike Ortega, director, Cochise County; and Brent Stockwell, associate director, Scottsdale.

During this meeting, the Nominating Committee approved an Honorary Membership to Evelyn Casuga. Ms. Casuga will retire from APS this month after 25 years of service. During that time and in her previous career in local government, Evelyn has been one of ACMA's most consistent champions. Under her leadership APS has consistently sponsored at the highest level and fully funded one of the Harvard Scholarships. Prior to joining APS, Ms. Casuga served as manager in the City of Eloy and the Town of Marana. She has spent more than a decade in local government in both California and Arizona.

An ACMA Honorary Member is a subcategory of distinguished membership. All candidates for distinguished membership must be nominated by a Full member. Honorary members shall be recommended by the board because of distinguished service to local government. Once a recommendation has been provided by the board, distinguished membership shall be conferred upon an individual only after a majority vote of the members at the annual business meeting. Honorary members shall not pay annual membership dues, but shall pay appropriate program and event fees.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Nominating Committee for their thoughtful suggestions. We are fortunate to have a significant number of well-qualified local government professionals in Arizona. The committee believes that these recommendations will result in well-balanced leadership that reflects the diversity of our association.

The election will be held on February 5, 2015, at the business meeting that will take place during the ACMA Winter Conference. Additional nominees may be placed on the ballot by a petition signed by at least five Full members and filed with the Nominating Committee not less than five days prior to the first day of registration for the annual meeting. Nominations will not be accepted from the floor during the annual business meeting.

If you have any questions, please contact staff at 602-258-5786 or aprice@azleague.org. I look forward to seeing you all at the conference in Sedona.
