ACMA Honors Rick Naimark with 2016 Connolly Award
This year's Catherine F. Connolly award was presented to Rick Naimark, former deputy city manager for the City of Phoenix. The Catherine F. Connolly Outstanding City/County Manager Award recognizes an outstanding assistant city or county manager who has demonstrated exemplary service to their organization, the community, local government and ACMA. The namesake of the award, Catherine F. Connolly, was the executive director of the League of Arizona Cities and Towns for eight years and served more than 20 years as the deputy director.

Naimark served with the City of Phoenix for 29 years, starting as an executive assistant to the city manager and ending as a deputy city manager. Over his time with the city, he grew to be an instrumental leader in numerous city programs. He supervised two dozen departments and was instrumental in the expansion of Arizona State University's downtown campus and city's bicycle master plan, including the GRID Bike Share Program.

Beyond his dedication at work, Naimark is committed to the public administration profession. He is a dedicated member of both the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and the Arizona City/County Management Association (ACMA), in addition to serving as a mentor to Master of Public Administration students from Arizona State University. He recently served as an ACMA representative on the League of Arizona Cities and Towns' Pension Reform Task Force Committee.

Naimark is also a dedicated volunteer, serving with various local organizations such as Valley of the Sun United Way, Hospice of the Valley, Valley Youth Theater, Valley Forward and the State of Arizona Judicial Performance Review Commission, among many.
