ACMA Andrews and Esser Scholarships
The Arizona City/County Management Association (ACMA) is now accepting applications for two student scholarships that may be of interest to MPA, MPP students and undergraduates in your program.

The two scholarships available are: 1) the Marvin A. Andrews Scholarship & Internship and 2) the Charles A. Esser Memorial Scholarship. The Andrews Scholarship includes a cash award and a three-month summer internship at an Arizona city, town or county, while the Esser Scholarship provides a one-time cash award to a student who is currently working or pursuing a career in local government. Both scholarships will be awarded at the 2017 ACMA Winter Conference in Sedona, Arizona, on Thursday, February 2.

More information on the scholarships and eligibility is available by clicking here.

Andrews Intern Host Applications
The Andrews Scholarship includes an internship component in addition to a monetary award. The purpose of this internship program is to provide the Andrews Scholar with professional experience and training in an Arizona city or town with a population of less than 50,000 or a county with a population of less than 200,000 (according to the 2010 census). In addition, it is hoped that the program will be an outstanding opportunity for Arizona's small and mid-sized cities, towns, and counties to benefit from the employment for a student enrolled at Arizona State University, Grand Canyon University, Northern Arizona University, or the University of Arizona. In 2016, the City of Sierra Vista hosted Andrews Scholar Dominic Luna (Arizona State University) as an intern in the City Manager's Office.

The ACMA Scholarship Fund will provide $3,000 towards a temporary, full-time summer internship for the 2017 Andrews Scholar. The city, town, or county that hosts the internship in 2017 will be asked to match this funding level for a total internship budget of $6,000. If your organization is eligible to participate in this program based on the population requirements, consider preparing a proposal to host the 2017 Andrews intern. As the host of the 2017 Andrews internship, your organization will have the opportunity to impact the education of the scholarship recipient outside of their academic work. In turn, Andrews Scholars have traditionally been highly motivated students dedicated to a career in local government and the 2017 recipient has the potential to be an excellent addition to your team.
