ACMA Honors Mary Vinzant with 2017 Rachel Hut Bremen Associate's Award for Excellence
Town of Gilbert Assistant to the Town Manager Mary Vinzant was awarded with the Rachel Hut Bremen Associate's Award for Excellence in Leadership.

In 2009, Mary joined the League of Arizona Cities and Towns as the Communication and Education Assistant, serving as the liaison for ACMA. She quickly built her brand and reputation as a responsive, proactive, and most importantly caring public servant committed to supporting professional local government management. In 2012 she was the driving force behind Arizona's successful hosting and planning of the ICMA 2012 Annual Conference in Phoenix. Without her extraordinary efforts and organization, the conference would not have been nearly as successful.

In 2013 Mary joined the Town of Gilbert as a management and budget analyst. The leap to full-time local government work was an easy one for her, and she became known as a "go-to" person in the budget office in Gilbert and also regionally through her efforts on collaborative projects and ongoing involvement in ACMA's planning committees. In 2016, Mary moved up the ranks and currently serves as the assistant to the town manager.

Mary is the type of young leader we consistently strive to recruit into the local government management profession. Although certainly known for her ethics and integrity and high-quality work product, it is Mary's heart and sense of humor that are a cornerstone of what make her a model for others to follow. She is smart, dedicated, and creative, and there is no doubt she will be the driving force in public service for many years to come.

The Rachel Hut Bremen Associate's Award for Excellence in Leadership recognizes associate ACMA members who contribute to the local government profession. The award was named for Rachel Hut Bremen, who served on the ACMA Board of Directors as an Associate Representative for two terms and volunteered on several committees including the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Host Committee when the conference was held in Phoenix in 2012. She worked for the City of Glendale as a senior management assistant. In May 2015, Rachel passed away from a two-and-a-half year battle with leukemia.
